Prafull Billore, also known as MBA Chai Wala is mostly known by his YouTube Videos. But what many might not know about him is that he is a very tenacious businessman. And he has built himself a quite successful tea business. While doing his bachelor’s degree he was actually having trouble studying; so he thought of starting his own business. He wanted to go for further studies and get an MBA but he could not get a seat in any colleges. At the age of 20, he was devastated because of his CAT exam results. This failure only made his goal of owning his own business stronger.
After this happened, Prafull took a trip across India staying in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, etc. He was inspired by some well-known American people to start working, so he started working at a Mcdonald’s and after thinking about it for 50 days he opened a tea stall. He had borrowed rs.8000 from his father to open that tea stall. He used to run the tea stall at night for only a few hours.
On the very first day of opening his stall, he made rs. 300 in total, but on the second day, he started interacting with his customers more as a form of strategy and offering them chai in English. His strategy worked and more and more people came flocking to see his English skills and drink his tea.
At first, he had not told his parents about his side hustle. But soon his sales grew and this became his main hustle. In the beginning, he faced a lot of hardships but he stayed strong and carried on.
Prafull Billore tried another innovative idea for his tea stall. His idea was to put up a whiteboard where people who needed jobs would write their phone numbers so that other customers who needed employees could contact them. This enabled his little stall to help people and connect them to new job prospects.
Over the years, Prafull Billore has organised various events like “Free Chai for Singles” on Valentine’s day, Poetry/Singing nights called “Mehfil-E-Kavita”, many sessions hosted by honourable individuals who educated the youth about entrepreneurship. He has even hosted fundraisers for cancer patients, underprivileged people, Kerala flood relief funds, conducted political campaigns with Delhi and Bihar state governments respectively.
His brand of MBA CHAI WALA was acknowledged and talked about with great honours by big media corporations like NDTV, Scoopwoop, Aaj Tak, Brut, Times of India, Zee News and even foreign media houses like BBC and Cnn.
