Rohan Mustafa was born on 7th October 1988 in Kohat, which is the capital city in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and the city is regarded as a centre of the Bangash tribe of Pashtuns, who have lived in the region since the late 15th century. His age is 33 years (as of 2021) At the age of 10, his family moved from Kohat to Sharjah, Dubai, where his father had a car sales business.

Since childhood, Mustafa was head over heels for cricket and used to stay awake till morning just to watch his home country Pakistan playing on International grounds. While speaking about his coach, he said, “He taught me A to Z in batting, bowling and fielding. I was a quick learner because I already have a good knowledge of the game by watching on TV.” He was selected for the UAE in the Asian Cricket Council under the 19 Elite Cup in Malaysia in August 2007. He won two men of the match awards for his 66 runs against Malaysia and claiming five wickets in 20 runs against Thailand. After this, he was forced to put his career on hold due to trembling financial conditions.

Fortunately, Adil Mirza, the CEO and founder of Phoenix Medicine provided him with employment and also enrolled him in the cricket academy once again. He was like his Elder brother who supported him during his crisis and is very thankful to Adil sir.

Mustafa was able to see the level of improvement in his cricket. In November 2007, he was picked for the senior national team for the first time on South Africa tour for the ICC World Cricket League Divison two. “To play good cricket you need to work hard. It is not easy to have a day job and play cricket in the UAE. Yet, with some sacrifice, one can achieve the objectives.”- he said.

His international career started initially by debuting in one day international (ODI against Scotland in February 2014. Mustafa was later appointed as vice-captain of the UAE national team. Mustafa scored 662 runs in his ODI career with a batting average of 21.35 and took five wickets in one of the innings.

In 2018, he was named as the captain of the UAE squad for the 2018 ICC world cricket league division two tournament. He played a total of 76 matches to date and he scored 1,734 runs with a batting average of 24.08 and took 5 wickets in three innings. He also made his T20 international debut against Australia on 22nd October 2018.

The latest news available about Mustafa is that he is one of the ten cricketers to be awarded a year-long full-time contract by the Emirates Cricket Board. The last T20I match he played was against Kuwait in February 2020. Due to pandemic, the cricket and other activities are on hold.
