He began his musical journey as a lead vocalist in a hip-hop band called as The Force. He started using the stage name, Rev. Run after he was ordained as a Pentecostal Minister by his spiritual mentor, E. Bernard Jordan.
His first appearance after adapting the new stage name was in a single, Song 4 Lovers the British pop band Liberty X in 2005. It was a huge hit, and topped airplay chart positions – No. 2 on Box UK and No. 4 on MTV UK.
Following that he released his first solo album, Distortion. His single from the album, Mind on the Road got featured in a video game of EA Sports.
He received the BMI Icon Award from Broadcast Music Inc., at it’s Annual BMI Urban Awards.
