Ritviz Early and Career Life
Since childhood, he is inclined towards music and rhythm because his mother is a classical vocalist and his father is Trade Finance Manager and also plays the Tabla. So it’s obvious that he was surrounded by a musical environment. At the tender age of six, he started his classical music training under the guidance of Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, an Indian vocalist who is an exponent in the Dhrupad genre. He composed his first song at the age of ten and was applauded by his Guru and relatives for his hard work.
He completed his schooling but dropped college voluntarily at the age of 17 to pursue his career in the field of Music. As a teen, he was introduced to western and Hip Hop music through the VH1 channel, an American cable network. Gradually, he started blending hip hop music and pop music in his songs which had a classical base. In 2014, he released his first song “Vongizdumb EP.” Later, he signed the contract with High Chai Recordings, a US-based Global Bass Music Label, who released his music “Mukti” through their label. After his global feature, he joined the label, Only Much Louder (OML), the artist management company. In 2018, he participated in the Bacardi House Party session and was immensely exposed to fame.
Sudden exposure to popularity for his first song pressurized him to perform even better. While giving an interview to The Hindu, he said, “I cannot make music just for the heck of it. The music I make comes organically to me. The day I bother about producing hits and following a certain format is the day I wouldn’t be true to myself.” His famous “Udd Gaye” song, which is now considered a party anthem, was featured on AIB’s music video ft Nucleya. In 2019, he released his first album, DEV. To date, he has collaborated with famous artists like Major Lazer, Nyla, Fuse ODG and Lauv. He composed a song for a Netflix Web Series’s “Mismatched.”
